Basics

Hey people.. okay so this week i promised y'all i was ginna start posting them tweaks, so here it is..
I'm going to start with the most basic of them all.. How to speed up your PC's Startup and Shutdown.
Most people always experience super-slow Startup and Shutdown times which is just nerve racking and makes you feel like getting a bat and smashing the darn thing :D.. but before you go all bat-happy on your PC you might wanna review somethings..
So one basic thing that most people (exempting tech junkies..yeah you know who you are..) dont know is that they're are the numero uno reason for making they're own systems slow..yup     . So what im gonna do today is to let you in on some of the few ways you can speed up Startup and Shutdown time.

#1. For those of  you who dont want to install any additional software (or just plain lazy..    ). Windows actually offers you a way of controlling what programs or services you want to start every time you boot your system. Now, for the fun part: Once you're in your desktop environment just press your R button while holding your Windows buttons (or simply type run in your windows search bar).  Once the prompt comes up, type the following : msconfig and hit enter. The System Configuration window should pop up with four tabs present: General, Boot, Services, Startup and tools. Click on the Startup tab and you should see a list of services that start up every time your PC boots. Now, a lot of these processes are most times added as we install new programs in our computers, and these program usually have services that start up at system boot for various reasons like Updates, feeds etc.. but the most general is to speed up performance of the program itself.
What we're going to do now is to disable some of these services that are not so necessary. By default, windows already has some services already running, (NOTE: Do not disable them!!) but we are going to disable the one that are not associated with windows functions; these usually are in the form of application names e.g download managers, torrent applications, network applications and widget applications are some of the most popular culprits..Once you're done unticking the uneeded applications, reboot the system and voilá!

#2. If you're a fan of kicking back and just letting some other application do all hardwork for you while you're busy sipping on zobo smirking away    then this one's for you. There are a number of cool applications out there that you can use to do this but i think we all know this one; Tuneup! your one click maintance program. Its really easy to use and even if you know nothing about computers, you wouldn't have much problems using this. You can download tuneup from www.tune-up.com.
Generally, once you've applied any of the above fixes, your Shutdown time should have also considerably reduced.
Well, thats all for today... later on i'll be talking on how to improve system speed generally.. till then... Im out
